We connect people across the Americas by producing singular coffee in a manner that both bolsters community development and cares for the environment

Alex Osteen founded Highlander Farms Coffee in 2012 after completing his service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the village of San Luis Planes, Honduras. In his role as a Business Development volunteer, he got to work with local farmers through the town’s coffee cooperative, Montaña Verde, and fell in love with the coffee-growing process and the natural beauty of the region. Starting up Highlander Farms Coffee was a way to keep ties with that community and share a piece of what makes it special with folks back home in the States. It also serves as a way to continue to support grassroots economic development and promote sustainability, which are crucial to our mission.

Our brand

Our logo was carefully designed to represent the natural elements of our farm and of our place on the Santa Bárbara Mountain. It also proudly calls out our dual locations, in Honduras (HON) and Portland (PDX).

Highlander Farms not only references the Santa Bárbara Mountain in Honduras where our coffee is grown, but also the small mountain town where Alex grew up - in Highlands, North Carolina.
